About
For more than a decade, Dr. Weiss has worked in the field of psychology, treating patients who want to make a positive change in their lives. Dr. Weiss has experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty with body image, low self-esteem, learning issues, and difficulty navigating life’s transitions (separation, career changes, coping with college, grief, etc.). As a mother of three young children, Dr. Weiss is familiar with both the joy and stress a new baby can bring and the complicated issues women face as new moms. For this reason, she particularly enjoys working with new mothers in the context of a safe therapeutic relationship.
Dr. Weiss uses an integrative and culturally sensitive approach to her work. She specializes in cognitive behavioral and dynamic therapies to treat patients. This approach enables patients to uncover the "why" behind some of the struggles they are facing and gives them the tools to take proactive steps to make improvements in their lives. Dr. Weiss knows that each person enters into therapy with their own history, current life stressors and hopes for their future. Therefore, no two clients are alike. Creating an individualized plan with each of her patients to meet their specific needs and goals is an important part of the therapeutic process.
After earning a Bachelors of Arts degree from Williams College, Dr. Weiss joined Teach For America and taught in an under-resourced elementary school in New Orleans. She then obtained her PhD in Psychology from Tulane University. Dr. Weiss completed her clinical internship at Boston University School of Medicine at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology and post-doctoral fellowship at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital.
